Courtney was one of the most thoughtful and principled people I knew. He seeked to change the world, in a meaningful way, and actually meant it. In an industry where everyone is touting to be "making the world a better place", Courtney stood out, in that he actually meant it.

Courtney and I met during our internship at Microsoft. We were twin interns, in the sense that we were a part of sister teams. I always looked forward to seeing him and our conversations, and we grew pretty close over the course of the summer. One thing that we talked a lot about was making a meaningful impact in society, and Courtney told me about his goal of working in government in a tech type role, to improve it. What stood out to me is that he did not just say this for lip service, but actually meant it, and went on to even intern in the US Government before going to Twitter. Standing by his principles and actually working towards a goal was something I really respected him for.

I visited him in San Francisco a year later and that passion had stayed. I loved how much he was into public transit. Hearing him talk about it gave me a sense of confidence in moving to SF and knowing that I'd be ok

I was distraught when I heard the news. Because he truly was a gem. He cared. And the world is at a loss.I know that, and seeing how many people have come out with well wishes, a lot of people do too.
